Greetings Sunday Saloners! I hope you’ve all had a good week! I’ve been busy around the house and so when I do have time to sit down with my current read at night I’ve found myself drowsy and unable to stay awake. It’s taken so much longer to get through Jane Eyre than I thought it would, but it isn’t from lack of interest. I am loving the book, but just don’t have enough hours in the day! Hopefully the fact that I recently got the Masterpiece Theater version of Jane Eyre from Netflix will give me the incentive to finish it up this week.
Speaking of Masterpiece Theater, tonight is the premeire of Jane Austen’s Emma. To celebrate PBS is having an Emma Twitter party during the show. They even have the lovely Laurel Ann from Austenprose as one of the Austen experts tweeting during the premiere! Make sure to hop onto Twitter tonight Sunday, January 24th from 9 – 11 p.m. EST to tweet about the first Emma episode. Just use hastag #emma_pbs to be included in the fun. As an added incentive, PBS will be giving away Austen prizes during the Twitter party so make sure to join in!!
In other bookish news, my daughter and I are currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2)

What a lovely way to spend time with your daughter! In our house, it was my youngest who told me that I had to read the Harry Potter series
I have almost completed the first book (I am listening to the audio book) and then I plan to watch the movie. I hope to complete the entire series this year.
I enjoyed the Twitter party, but it was a bit distracting trying to watch/tweet at the same time!

What fun to share Harry Potter with your daughter! It would be like reading it for the first time all over again.
There are so many things that I have forgotton from my first read of HP that it is fun to read them again!

It is so special that you and your daughter are enjoying HP. We have a serious HP love affair going on in our house as well. My daughter and I have read the series several times, we’ve seen all the movies (ad nauseum!) and are now making our way through the audiobooks.
I’ve never read Emma either, but really enjoy the movie versions of Austen books.
This is an amazing adaptation! Romola Garai makes the role her own and she really knows how to emote with her facial expressions. I also loved the costuming, especially Romola’s dresses. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Dangit! I hate that I missed the Emma Twitter party! I’m almost done with Emma, and I loooove it.
I had the same feeling, eventually, the twitter party. I couldn’t focus on the show and since there is some added material, I didn’t want to miss a thing.
