I spend the bulk of my free time reading, but every once in a while get the scrapbooking bug and put aside my books for some scrapping catch-up. This past week I’ve been working on photos from the last few months and had so much fun creating this digital scrapbook page below in which I chronicled time spent with my daughter reading Harry Potter. I thought all you readers out there would appreciate it!
I like to write on the pages I create and on the one above I wrote:
I was so excited when Leah showed interest in reading Harry Potter. Having already read the series, I knew that it would catch her imagination like nothing else. We’ve been enjoying our reading time together and have almost finished book two! I’m so happy to spend time with Leah discovering the magic of Harry.
I used to be a paper scrapper, but have completely moved over to the digital format. You can check out more of my scrapbooking pages here! Tell me, what do you like to do when you are not reading?

What a great idea to do digital scrapbooks! I haven’t printed pictures in years so scrapbooks are so far behind! Do you scan things in that you want to “keep,” like ticket stubs, programs, etc?
I don’t usually scan my stuff, but probably should! All of my pictures are from my digital camera so it’s easy to build scrapbooking pages with them.
I wished I had a creative bone for scrapbooking. Lovely page and lovely girl. Glad she is enjoying the books.
Thanks Pam! We are both loving HP!
What a great idea! I love your new header, by the way!!
Thanks Jenn!
I paper scrap still but digital is gorgeous…love that page!
I used to be a big paper scrapper, but all that scrapbooking stuff was starting to take over my house!
I really wish I could scrap and read at the same time. Last year I read 107 books, but I scrapped fewer pages. The year before I read fewer books but scrapped more pages. I haven’t tried audio books becuase I think scrapping would require too much concentration and too much interruption.
I’ve got the same problem Melanie. If I could just figure out how to do two things at once I would get a lot more accomplished!
That is adorable! I used to love to do scrapbooking, I still read the magazines to get ideas, but I’m just more into journaling for now. I would like to give digital scrapbooking a try though – I think I’d like that.
Come visit. Harry Potter land is opening up at Universal Studios this spring.
I know – Leah would kill to go there. Maybe next year (after we recover financially from our addition)!
I’ll admit it, I have no patience for paper scrapbooking. Now digital? I might be able to handle that. That picture is so totally cute. Doesn’t it make your heart warm to know she is enjoying these wonderful books?
I love it! Your daughter looks so happy to be holding that book!
Your daughters are so gorgeous! You and your family will cherish these beautiful pages.
As for me, besides reading I enjoy art, visiting museums and making art (recently took a mosaics class), and also being out in nature and a fairly new activity, geocaching.
I’ve heard a lot about geocaching, but never tried it. It might be a fun activity for my family when my girls are a bit bigger.
So cool! I’ve done a minor bit of paper scrapping, but I can see that the digital is probably going to work out much better for me. I LOVE your pages! The Harry Potter one is especially adorable.
Thanks Andi! I love that digital scrapbooking is so portable. I can bring my laptop anywhere to work on a page!
Your daughter looks so cute holding that big book in front of her. I think the Harry Potter series are sure to capture any child into its magic world.
Leah is such a cutie! My boys asked me to read to them (which is huge, because my 7 year old has not wanted me to read to him in about two years) and they chose The Chronicles of Narnia. I had a pang of disappointment – I wanted to read Harry Potter – but we just started book 2 last night. What a wonderful experience. One that I will treasure.
I never thought I could “chonicle” our time reading Chronicles of Narnia. You have given me wonderful inspiration! I don’t scrapbook, but I keep meticulous photo albums.
Oh, and to answer your question, when I’m not reading (or blogging about reading), I’m usually at one of the two schools helping out, playing with my boys, crocheting, running, or taking pictures (I would be a photographer in my fantasy life).
Alison,
I’ve never read Chronicles of Narnia, but maybe I’ll pick that one up after we are finished with HP!
I didn’t know you crochet! I’m a knitter myself, but haven’t done anything since the fall (when I made a cute hat for my girlfriend’s son)!
This is so cool! I am not that creative… How wonderful for you and your daughter to share reading together. I hope that continues for her entire life.
You know, I’ve never liked scrapbooking by hand, but I think I would enjoy doing it digitally! Your pages are so lovely.
Thanks Jeane!!
You know, I used to scrapbook but I don’t anymore. I scrapbooked my first year teaching, but as I started work on my second year, it lost it’s flavor. I don’t have any kids of my own and my relationships are fleeting and my family doesn’t do much together so maybe I could make one of my friends and I- that’s about all there is!
I enjoy doing the paper scrapbooking, but it is a very expensive hobby to get all those supplies. I might enjoy doing it digitally, especially since most of my photos are now digital.
I write when I’m not reading. I write in class, in chapel, when I’m bored, when I should be doing homework…I guess you could say when I’m not writing, I read.
What sort of program do you use to make your scrapbooking pages? They’re really neat
Nikki – I use Photoshop to edit the photos and assemble the pages. The embelishments (i.e. the digital papers, ribbons, etc.) are purchased from various online digital scrapbooking artists. Thanks for the compliment!
Wonderful page. I love it.
